PSYCHOLOGY SUPPORT GROUPS
As part of our expanding range of services, we are pleased to introduce Psychology Support Groups—a supportive, accessible, and low-cost way to connect with others while learning practical strategies to support your mental wellbeing.
We understand that individual therapy or psychological intervention may not be the right fit for everyone. Some people may prefer the opportunity to connect with others who have had similar experiences, learn together, and feel part of a supportive community. Psychology support groups can provide an alternative or complementary form of support, depending on your individual needs.
What are Psychology Support Groups?
Our support groups provide a safe and welcoming space where participants can:
-
Connect with others and build a sense of community
-
Share experiences in a supportive and respectful environment
-
Hear from others with lived experience
-
Develop a greater sense of understanding and connection
-
Learn practical strategies to manage everyday challenges
- Build confidence in managing emotions and difficult situations
- Develop coping skills and resilience
- Reduce feelings of isolation and feeling like you are facing things alone
- Learn from different perspectives and experiences
- Feel supported while working towards improved mental wellbeing
Groups are facilitated by our provisional psychologists, who provide guidance, structure, and psychological-informed support throughout each session. Our aim is to create an environment where participants feel comfortable, respected, heard, and supported.
Support That Fits Different Needs
Psychology support groups are one part of our broader range of psychological and wellbeing services. Our clinic services include individual therapy and psychological intervention, assessment services, group services, and other forms of support designed to meet a range of individual needs.
While individual therapy can be highly beneficial, it is not necessarily the preferred or most suitable option for everyone. Group-based support groups can offer something different—the opportunity to learn alongside others, experience shared understanding, and develop skills within a supportive social environment.
For some people, support groups may be a helpful first step towards accessing psychological support. For others, they may complement individual therapy or other services they are already accessing.
Two Groups Available
We currently offer two separate Psychology Support Groups:
Teenagers & Young People
A supportive space for teenagers and young people to connect with peers, share experiences, and develop practical strategies to support their mental wellbeing.
Adults
A welcoming group for adults looking to connect with others, learn practical coping strategies, and build confidence and resilience in managing life’s challenges.
The two groups are run independently from one another, with sessions tailored to the needs and experiences of each age group.
Affordable and Accessible Support
We believe that accessing mental health support should be as approachable and accessible as possible. Our Psychology Support Groups provide a low-cost option for people who may benefit from a group environment.
Sessions are held on Fridays and run for 60 minutes.
Cost: $20 per session
Whether you are looking to build your coping skills, connect with others, reduce feelings of isolation, or simply learn more about supporting your mental wellbeing, our groups may be a valuable option for you.
